Josh Rowbotham was one of the stars of the youth team between 2009 and 2011. Looking equally at home in defence or midfield, he caught the eye of Mick Wadsworth and made his first team debut at right back in the last league game of 2010/11. The following season was a frustrating one, with Rowbotham missing a number of games through injury, though he was still voted the youth team's player of the year and made a second appearance for the first team. He was offered a professional contract at the season's end. For the remainder of his time at the club, Rowbotham was a regular in midfield for the reserves and made the bench for a number of first team games without adding to his appearances. His contract was cancelled by mutual consent in October 2014 and he left to pursue other career options.
