One of the club`s greatest ever forwards, Paul Baker made an instant impact when he arrived from Carlisle in 1987, scoring 14 in his first 11 league games. Though he would never be that prolific again, he led the line tremendously well for five seasons and formed a wonderful partnership with Joe Allon as the club won promotion in 1991. Late in his career Baker returned to the club and scored some vital goals as the club fought against relegation from the League. He also briefly managed the club in 1999, alongside his good friend Brian Honour.
