Striker Darryl Duffy began his career as a youth at Glasgow Rangers but made his name at Falkirk where his 27 goals helped his club to win the First Division title in 2004/05. His form attracted the attention of many scouts from south of the border and in January 2006 he signed for Hull City. He joined Pools in November 2006 when Danny Wilson reacted to a goalscoring crisis by signing the 22-year-old Duffy on a two-month loan deal.Duffy`s time at Pools was a huge success. After making his debut in a disappointing home defeat to Barnet, Pools won every one of the next nine league games and Duffy played a large part in that, scoring five times - at the time the most by any player in a loan spell at the club. Duffy returned to Hull City in January 2007 and was rewarded by their new manager, former Pools star Phil Brown, with a place on the bench for City`s next match.
