While playing for Coleraine, winger Terry Cochrane became the first part-time footballer to be capped by Northern Ireland. He went on to represent his country 26 times, with most of his caps coming during his successful career in England with Burnley, Middlesbrough and Gillingham. His Pools career was a short one; he made just two appearances for John Bird's side in 1987.
