Stuart Parnaby joined Pools in June 2014 after spending the rest of his career playing in the top two tiers of English football. He was a graduate of Middlesbrough's highly-rated youth academy, and made around 100 appearances for the Riverside club before joining Birmingham. He spent four years at St Andrews without ever truly nailing down a place in the first team, but he still made around 50 appearances, and was an unused substitute as the Blues won the 2011 League Cup. Parnaby rejoined Middlesbrough in 2012 and spent two seasons back at his former club before being released in the summer of 2014. Comfortable anywhere across the back four or in midfield, he will be hoping to establish himself as a first team regular at the Vic.
