When Pools brought Bradford Park Avenue's Michael Duckworth in for a trial in the summer of 2013 there was also some talk of interest in his teammate Jordan Deacey. The midfielder, son of Park Avenue manager John Deacey, went on trial to Carlisle United instead. Six months later, with Duckworth having proved to be a big success, Pools manager Colin Cooper was offered another chance to have a look at Deacey. The youngster made an impressive start to his trial, scoring against Scunthorpe in a Reserve League Cup tie.
