During his time at the club Gott looked to be one of the more promising youngsters. At home in central defence or midfield he was voted the youth team player of the year in 2006/07. While continuing to play for the juniors during the following season he also established himself as a regular for the reserves, even captaining them on a couple of occasions. He had an eye for goal both from open play and set pieces, with only the prolific Matty Tymon scoring more for the youth team during Gott`s last season. It was something of a surprise when he was released in the summer of 2008.
