Scott Allison was the third goalkeeper to arrive at the club in the summer of 2007 following the acquisitions of Arren Lee-Barrett and Jan Budtz, and the departures of Dimi Konstantopoulos, Jim Provett and Tony Davison. He began his career as a trainee at York City before signing for Cardiff City as a 16-year-old. He was released by Cardiff at the end of the 2006/07 season and was snapped up by Pools on the recommendation of goalkeeping coach George Wood, who had worked with him at Ninian Park. He managed a handful of starts at reserve team level, but this was not enough to stop him being released in the summer of 2008.
