Lee Fitzpatrick was an instant hit with Pools supporters in October 1999 when, while on loan from Blackburn, he scored on his first start to seal a win against Darlington. A hard working midfielder with a willingness to shoot from distance, Fitzpatrick was a popular player on the terraces but never quite managed to secure an automatic first-team slot. He is probably best remembered for a brilliant strike at Carlisle that helped Pools to an unlikely 3-2 win from two goals down.
