Early in Neale Cooper`s reign as manager, regular goalkeeper Anthony Williams found himself out of favour. It was around this time that former Greek under-21 international Dimitrios Konstantopoulos arrived at the club for a trial after a spell in Portugal. Konstantopoulos`s performances in training earned him a short term contract and he soon established himself as understudy to Jim Provett as Williams left the club. Provett`s superb form restricted Dimi to a spectator`s role for his first year at the club but he was eventually given a run in the side in 2004 and produced a string of wonderful dominant performances. Provett won back the keeper`s shirt in the wake of a humbling 6-4 home defeat against Wrexham, but Dimi was soon re-established in the side and his stunning performance at Tranmere in the playoff semi-final second leg earned his side a place at Cardiff for the final. A towering presence with a habit of producing stunning point-blank saves, Dimi made the number one shirt his own throughout the next two seasons. In the summer of 2007, having played a key role in the club`s promotion to League One, he moved to Coventry City.
