Money was a regular visitor to the Vic during two spells as a player with Scunthorpe United in the 1970s and 80s. In between those two spells at the Old Showground he played at a higher level, including a period at Liverpool that saw him play in a European Cup semi-final. He was a familiar figure as a manager too, having been in charge of the Walsall side that pipped Danny Wilson`s Pools to the 2006/07 League Two title. He also spent time in the dugout at Luton, Cambridge, and Solihull Moors, before getting the job at the Vic.
It proved to be a short-lived appointment. Money would later admit that he had underestimated the scale of the job required at the club. In January 2019, just eight games into his role, the club announced that he would effectively be swapping places with Director of Football Craig Hignett, with Money focussing on long term strategic issues while former-manager Hignett once again picked up the reins at first team level. Unfortunately, Money would spend even less time in his new position than he did in the manager`s seat. Less than a week after the Hignett job-swap, and after an alleged disagreement with some fans in a Seaton Carew chip shop, Money left the club.
