Action from the promotion season as full back Tony Bircumshaw comes close to scoring against Port Vale. New signing Bobby Cummings opened his Pools account but the visitors earned a 2-2 draw. The match was the first of a 16-game unbeaten run that saw Pools emerge from the pack to earn a first ever promotion.
