Denis Behan

Chris Turner brough Dennis Behan to Hartlepool United in the summer of 2009 when his previous club, Cork City, was struggling with financial issues. With his good-natured enthusiasm and powerful right foot shot he proved a popular player on the terraces during the first part of his debut season. He scored a thumping free kick at Oldham and also contributed an amusing bit of play in a Carling Cup tie when Burnley midfielder Joey Gudjohnsson was smacked full in the face by two Behan set piece thunderbolts within a minute!

Behan picked up an injury midway through the season and struggled for the rest of the campaign. he made a welcome return to the first team as a substitute in the last home game against Exeter and scored would would prove to be a priceless equaliser. The next season was a difficult one for the player. He began the season on the bench and, with Turner being replaced by Mick Wadsworth in August, soon found himself further out of the first team picture. He made just one league start all season and just five subs appearances after Christmas. he was released in the summer of 2011.
