Striker Billy Greulich had a few attempts at finding a Football League club. While he was a youngster he had spells at the academies of Middlesbrough, Sunderland, Luton Town and Watford, but it didn`t work out for him and he ended up playing with Brandon United in the Northern League. He had a trial at Pools in the summer of 2009 and did enough to earn a professional contract. Greulich impressed for the reserves and managed a handful of substitute appearances for the first team during his first season, doing enough to earn himself an additional year at the club. That second year was less successful for the player. He missed part of the season through injury and only made six subs appearances for the reserves, without getting close to another first team call. He was released in the sumer of 2011.
