Fabian Yantorno

Midfielder Fabian Yantorno spent a lot of his early career in his native Uruguay before moving to Britain and trying his hand at Scottish Premier League newcomers Gretna in 2007. He suffered a serious knee injury six months later that forced the cash-strapped borderers to release him from his contract as they were unable to pay for his treatment. He was later offered a deal by Hibernian and played a handful of games for the Edinbrugh before being released in 2009. His next port of call was south of the border, but his time at Chester was cut short before making a first team appearance, with a knee injury again the cause of his problems.

After a brief spell back in Montevideo, Yantorno was offered a trial at Victoria Park in the summer of 2010, that ultimately led to a one year deal. First team coach Mick Wadsworth knew the player from his time at both Gretna and Chester and it was hoped he could put his inhjury problems behind him and hold down a place in the Pools midfield. Sadly, whether throuhg injury or some other reason, Yantorno was never able to establish himself. He made 22 appearances in total during the season and scored a nice goal at Sheffield Wednesday, but it was no big surprise when he was released at the end of his contract.
