Hartlepool-born forward Zak Boagey joined the club on a month's work experience from Middlesbrough in October 2012 and made a good enough impression for Pools to sign him on a permanent basis a month later. He made his first team debut as a late substitute against Bury late in the 2012/13 season, but that proved to be his only competitive appearance. He spent the last couple of months of the following season on loan at Whitby Town, and was released in the summer of 2014.
