A product of Carlisle's youth system, midfielder Tom White made his name playing for Gateshead in the National League, where is performances earned him a big move to Blackburn Rovers. During his time at Ewood Park he was loaned out to Barrow, playing a part in their National League promotion campaign of 2019/20. He was then sent on loan again, this time to Bolton Wanderers in League Two, where he made his Football League debut. He returned to Blackburn at the beginning of 2021 before making another temporary move. This time his destination was Victoria Park, with manager Dave Challinor bringing him back to the north-east as Pools looked to strengthen their position in the National League promotion race. White provided useful cover while Nicky Featherstone was injured for a few weeks in the middle of the season, but was mainly used as an option from the bench once Featherstone was back in the team. He left the club when his extended loan period expired just before the end of the season. He joined Barrow on a permanent basis soon afterwards.
