Former Scotland international midfielder Paul Hartley was appointed as Hartlepool United's 50th permanent manager in Jun 2022 after over a decade working in similar roles north of the border. He achieved five promotions during his time in Scotland, which included successful spells at Alloa Athletic, Dundee and Cove Rangers. Hartley took charge of a Pools side that had lost some of its momentum following the promotion back to the Football League in 2021, but it is to be hoped that his winning record, and funds boosted by good cup runs during the 2021/22 season, can lead to an upturn in fortunes.
