Diminutive winger Ruddy was a key player for the youth team between 2005 and 2008, with his pace and trickery causing problems for many an opponent. Despite his good displays he never really forced his way into the reserve side and he was released in May 2008. He joined Northern League side Spennymoor United later that summer.
