French-Guinean striker Mohamed Doumbouya joined Pools for a trial in October 2006 after a long spell playing in France. He made an encouraging debut for the second team, scoring one and setting up another in a 2-1 win against Hull City reserves. Unfortunately for the striker there was a shortage of reserve games at the time, and Doumbouya managed just one more appearance in a disappointing 4-0 defeat against Rotherham reserves. He returned to France where he continued his somewhat nomadic career.
