Horwood quickly established himself in the first team and formed a useful partnership with Andy Monkhouse on the left flank, particularly during his first season. His crossing, both from open play and set pieces, created a number of goalscoring chances throughout his three seasons at the club. With this in mind, it was something of his surprise when Horwood’s name appeared when the club announced the released list following relegation in 2013.
He played 138 times for the first team and scored six goals, including superb strikes against Colchester and Bournemouth
