Midfielder Thomas Tennebo joined Pools from Norwegian side Fana in 1999 and played a blinding debut at Carlisle United, when he was the best player on the pitch in a 3-0 win. After this encouraging start he spent most of the 1999/00 season on the fringes of the first team. His Pools career came to a sad end when he sustained a horrific double leg break in a reserve match at Halifax in September 2000. He stayed at the club for another year before retiring from full-time football and returning to Norway.
