Big name signing
Pools made minor headlines in 2011 with the capture of former Peruvian international Nolberto Solano. The 36-year-old ex-Newcastle United star was thought to be an ideal signing to attract casual supporters. Whatever his off-field contribution, Solano's performances on the pitch were generally disappointing. He made just 16 appearances.
