One of the most successful products of the club`s youth team, Tommy Miller made his first team debut at Chester in October 1997. Two years later his classy displays and goals from midfield had made him one of the first names on the team sheet. He finished as top scorer in both 1999/00 and 2000/01, making the PFA Team of the Year both times. He signed for Premiership side Ipswich Town in the summer of 2001 for a club record £750,000. Miller had two spells at Portman Road and also turned out for Sunderland, Sheffield Wednesday, Preston North End, Huddersfield Town, Swindon Town and Bury, in a career that saw him make more than 500 Football League appearances. In the summer of 2014, and at the age of 35, he donned a Pools shirt once again. He spent a few weeks on trial with Colin Cooper's squad and played in friendlies against Bradford Park Avenue, Sunderland, Whitby Town and Bradford City. His performances in those matches was enough to earn him a contract and he began his second spell as a Pools player the day before the start of the 2014/15 season.
