Linighan leaves
David Linighan joined his brother Andy in leaving Hartlepool United for higher division football. David joined Derby County on this day in 1986 and, though it didn't work out for him at that club, he went on to play a great number of Football League games in the higher reaches of English football, most notably for Ipswich Town.
